Sports Offered at FMS


       
Cross Country (August 19 - October 11)  
Cross Country is a non-cut sport. This means all athletes may join the team. Athletes run distances of 1.5 - 2.0 miles. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may participate on the team.
       
Girls Volleyball (August 19 - October 11)
Volleyball is a cut sport. This means all athletes may try out for the teams. Tryouts will be conducted with all three grade levels together. 6th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the JV team only. 7th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the JV or Varsity team. 8th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the Varsity team only. The coaches will only select 9-15 players.

Boys Basketball (October 14 - December 13)
Basketball is a cut sport. This means all athletes may try out for the teams. Tryouts will be conducted with all three grade levels together. 6th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the JV team only. 7th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the JV or Varsity team. 8th grade athletes have the opportunity to be placed on the Varsity team only. The coaches will only select 10-15 players.

Girls Soccer (October 14 - December 16)
Soccer is a cut sport. This year there will only be one Varsity team mixed with all three grade levels. This means all athletes may try out for the team. The coach will only select 15-30 players. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may try out for the team.

Wrestling (December 2 - February 14)
Wrestling is a non-cut sport. This means all athletes may join the team. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may participate on the team.

Basketball is a cut sport. This means all athletes may try out for the teams. Track & Field is a non-cut sport. This means all athletes may join the team. The events offered for track and field are: sprints, mile, high jump, long jump, and shot put. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may participate on the team.
