Theatre Club
Folsom Middle Theatre exists so that middle schoolers can discover, develop and enhance their visual & performing arts skills (Examples: acting, singing, dancing, choreographing, drawing/painting, creating props, learning how to manage sound and lighting equipment, creating costumes and managing a theatrical show), practice public speaking skills, gain self-awareness of who they are, and problem solve as a team to put on several theatrical projects/shows during the school year.
Our goal as a group is to at least produce one big Winter/Spring Musical each year. All students who want to perform as actors or be a part of the tech crew can participate. There is a place for everyone. Student's learn that each member is valuable in bringing a show to life! Our expectation is that each student be available from the planning stages to the showing of a theatre show to experience the process of putting on a show. This is not a fast process and usually takes several months to complete. Therefore, we would love to work with you if you are committed to the art!
When possible, we also help students experience other aspects of drama to build appreciation for the theatre profession. We do participate in local theatre festivals and give students the chance to showcase their individual talent with other middle schoolers from California. We also let students know of upcoming shows and try to gather a group to see them. Our FCUSD high school theatre groups are a great opportunity to be inspired. We are committed to sharing our love of Theatre with each student and I hope you love it too!
